SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Nov. 29, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police are investigating “multiple shots fired” calls reported in downtown SLC last Sunday morning.
The first reports of gunfire happened Nov 24, 2024, about 2:08 a.m. with police arriving in force about 2 minutes later.
Gephardt Daily photographers were on scene as SLCPD patrol vehicles zig-zagged through the heart of the city, cruising down back streets and alleyways, before finally centering their search on the parking lot at 375 S. State adjacent to the Club Fitness gym.
Joined by members of the SLCPD Crime Scene Investigation Unit, crime lab officers located and photographed what appeared to be shell casings in the southwest corner of the parking lot, directly across the street from the City-County Building and kitty-corner from bars and restaurants near Exchange Place.
SLCPD’s public information officer Brent Weisberg confirmed the incident and said the investigation is ongoing.
“At 2:08 a.m. on Sunday, Nov 24, 2024, SLC911 received multiple calls from community members reporting they heard multiple shots fired near a loud gathering of people and cars.
“Officers arrived on scene and found evidence of gunfire, but no victims and no property damage,” Weisberg wrote.
“Our Crime Lab Unit responded to collect the evidence. Investigation ongoing.”
Gephardt Daily will update the story as more information is made available.
