GENOLA, Utah County, Utah, Oct. 4, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — An 8-year-old girl suffered minor injuries when her school bus was struck in a hit-and-run accident in Genola on Friday afternoon.

The child, who complained of neck pain, was one of two children on the bus. The accident happened at 3:56 p.m. near 74 W. 800 South.

“The bus was pulling out of a driveway onto the main road, 800 South,” Cpl. R. Woodland, Santaquin Police Department, told Gephardt Daily. Genola contracts with Santaquin for police services.

“A red pickup was westbound, and the bus was far enough into the road that the truck had to go around it, and it skimmed the bus. It left red paint transfer, and it kept going.”

The girl hurt her neck when she hit her head on the seat in front of her, Woodland said. EMTs checked her out, but did not transport her. The other child and the bus driver reported no injuries.

Nobody has seen the red truck in Genola, which had a population of 1,370 in the last census, in 2010.

“We’ve searched,” Woodland said. “We’re still looking for it.”
