SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 20, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly threatened people with a knife in Liberty Park Wednesday afternoon.

A probable cause statement from the 3rd District Court in Salt Lake County said Adam Roberts Hillman, 43, is facing a charge of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony.

The incident occurred at the park at 600 E. 900 South, at approximately 5:45 p.m.

“The A/P (accused person) was walking through a large public park, with a knife in his hand,” the statement said. “The A/P began to ‘sharpen’ the knife on the ground, scraping it back and forth, and then the A/P advanced toward a group of people playing Frisbee nearby, yelling at them, threatening to use the knife, and running toward the group with the knife in his hand.”

Dispatch received multiple calls from Liberty Park. Officers responded and located a male matching the description given leaving the park, the statement said. Officers detained the suspect and located several victims who said they had been threatened.

Hillman was transported to Salt Lake County Jail with his bail set at $20,000.
