Police: Man photographed girls at Harrisville; arrested for voyeurism

HARRISVILLE, Utah, Aug. 25, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating a suspect believed to have used a cell phone to take voyeuristic photos or videos of young girls at the Deseret Industries thrift store in Harrisville.

A Deseret Industries security guard, who was LAO an off-duty police officer for the Harrisville Police Department, reportedly saw the suspect following a 7-year-old girl, taking photos. Another store employee reported seeing the same man following and shooting pictures of a 15-year-old girl. Neither girl was aware of what was happening, according to reports.

The guard confronted Gabriel Araiza-Guel, 39, of Washington state, who reportedly started deleting photos from his phone. The guard identified himself as a police officer, took the man’s phone, and detained him until on-duty HPD officers arrived.

Araiza-Guel was booked into the Weber County Jail on Aug. 19 on suspicion of voyeurism and disorderly conduct.
