SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 18, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — There is new information in a weekend stabbing in downtown Salt Lake City that sent one man to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries early Sunday morning.
According to an update by SLCPD Detective Ruff, the stabbing happened on the second floor of a parking garage at about 50 East Exchange. Earlier reports indicated the assault had taken place at a popular pub and restaurant located south of the garage.
The downtown entertainment area is home to several bars, clubs and restaurants.
“We got the call at about 12:30 a.m. that a complainant was being harassed by multiple males,” Lt. Lisa Pasadlo, Salt Lake City Police Department, told Gephardt Daily.
“She called to her boyfriend to help, and between the boyfriend and the group of males, one of the males stabbed the boyfriend.”
The victim, in his mid-20s, was driven by a friend to an area hospital, and ultimately ended up at Intermountain Medical Center, in Murray.
“We are still looking to see if there are surveillance cameras in the area,” she said. “If anyone was there or has information, we ask you to call our non-emergency line at 801-799-3000, and help us identify the suspects.”
Update: In our original article, Gephardt Daily cited Salt Lake City PD confirmation that the stabbing happened at the popular downtown bar, The Green Pig. The bar management tells Gephardt Daily the incident did not occur inside their establishment, nor was staff aware of any such incident outside the pub during or after the late shift.
