TOOELE, Utah, Aug. 14, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Shortly after reaching out for the public’s help, police have made arrests tied to a car that had been out-running officers of late.

“Thanks to an outpouring of help from the public, we were able to apprehend those responsible for this case,” the Tooele City Police Department announced online Tuesday evening.

“Situations involving fleeing vehicles are dangerous and put innocent lives needlessly at risk. A big thank you to all of our surrounding law enforcement agencies that helped us in this endeavor!”

Earlier Tuesday both the city department and the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office both posted an alert regarding the scofflaw after the city cops had encountered the speeding black Ford Mustang with a masked license plate Monday night.

“When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled. It is believed this vehicle has fled from other agencies in our county.”

The images attached to the post were a combination of actual images along with stock photos. “The car is believed to be between a 2015-2023 model year. At the time of the incident, the license plate had an extremely dark license plate cover, making it nearly unreadable. In addition, the rear-facing light covers had dark lens covers, which appeared black.

“Tooele City Police are interested in talking to owners, drivers, passengers, or anyone else who may have information about this incident. Please call Tooele County Dispatch with any info — (435) 882-5600. Reference case 6202.” No suspect information was released.
