Police: Ogden man confronts thief, gets shot twice

OGDEN, Utah, April 28, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in Ogden are looking for a suspected shooter after a resident confronted a man he believed had previously stolen items from his car.

The incident happened at about 7 p.m. Friday in the area of 30th Street and Quincy Avenue.

“It was determined that the victim in the incident previously had items stolen from his vehicle at this location,” a Facebook post from the Ogden Police Department stated.

“The victim recognized and confronted the suspect of the theft. A physical fight ensued in which the suspect drew a handgun and began to fire shots at the victim.”

The victim was struck twice, in the arm and the abdomen.

“The suspect fled on foot, getting into a white SUV and fleeing the scene,” the OPD statement says.

“The victim was transported to the hospital where his injuries were treated. It was determined that his injuries were non-life threatening. This case is part of an ongoing investigation.”
