SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 1, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Three people were taken into custody Tuesday afternoon in connection with a kidnapping Monday in Taylorsville.

Sgt. Brian Lohrke, Unified Police Department, said a 42-year-old man was walking along a road near 3700 West and 5400 South on Monday afternoon, when he was forced into a GMC SUV and was robbed. The SUV had two people inside, a male and a female.

“The victim was able to jump out,” and escape his captors, and ran into a 7-Eleven, Lohrke said.

On Tuesday, a vehicle matching the description of the one used in the Taylorsville kidnapping was spotted outside a Denny’s restaurant at 250 W. 500 South in Salt Lake City. Two men and a woman associated with the vehicle were detained.

“The occupants are being questioned,” he said. “We are trying to figure out what their involvement may have been in this. We may release people later as well. We are making sure we have covered all our bases.”

Lohrke said the man forced into the SUV “is doing well, considering the circumstances.”

UPD and the Salt Lake City Police Departments responded to the scene of the Denny’s, and are cooperating in the investigation.
