MAGNA, Utah, Aug. 22, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The victim of a deadly drive-by shooting late Saturday night in Magna has been identified as 17-year-old Will Ryan.

The shooting happened when people in a passing car opened fire on Ryan, who was sitting on the hood of a parked car, and on a second 17-year-old who was seated inside the vehicle.

Ryan was struck in the head, and died at the scene. The teen inside the car was shot in the lower extremities, but has since been released from the hospital.

The shooting happened in front of a home at 8073 W. 3380 South, Unified Police Detective Ken Hansen told Gephardt Daily.

Two types of shell casings were recovered at the scene, proof, Hansen said, that there were at least two types of weapons used.

Hansen said it appeared the shooting was gang related.
