SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 30, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have responded to the scene of a collision between a TRAX train and a car in downtown Salt Lake City.

The accident happened when the car made a left turn and hit the train, UTA spokesman Carl Arky told Gephardt Daily. A person in the car was injured, but not seriously, he said. Arky was unsure if it was a male or female who was injured.

The accident happened at about 2:30 p.m. Friday at 400 South and 200 East. UTA started posting information about TRAX delays shortly afterward.

“TRAX Alert 2:35 pm: Expect delays of at least 15 minutes on the NB Red Line from Library – Medical Center due to a TRAX vs auto incident,” said a tweet posted by UTA

A follow up text warned of problems with additional lines:

“TRAX Update 3:00 pm: Expect delays of about 20 minutes on all lines NB from 900 South, as well as delays of about 20 minutes on SB Red Line from Trolley and SB Green and Blue Lines from Gallivan Plaza.”

Gephardt Daily will have more information on the story as it becomes available.
