KEARNS, Utah, June 2, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Two women were seriously injured Thursday night when their vehicle rolled and took out a portion of a house.

Lt. Bill Robertson, of the Unified Police Department, said it was shortly after 11 p.m. when phone calls started coming in about a traffic accident at 5570 S. 5360 West.

As officers arrived at the scene, he said, it was apparent that the vehicle had rolled and crashed into the house, leaving the two adult female occupants of the vehicle with broken bones and cuts. They were transported to the hospital in serious condition.

Robertson said that because of the extent of the damage, the accident reconstruction team would be working for at least a couple of hours to determine how the accident occurred, and a building inspector was coming out to check on the house.

Robertson estimated that the damage to the women’s vehicle, plus damage to the back end of the home, and a car and motorcycle that were in the driveway, probably totaled $100,000. He said it was fortunate that no one in the house was injured.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, and Robertson said officials will be looking at possible factors such as “high speed, impairment, things of that nature.” He said witnesses told police that excessive speed contributed to the crash.
