SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 23, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman is in custody after allegedly setting a fire in her Salt Lake City home, with her father inside.

A probable cause statement from the 3rd District Court of Salt Lake County said Alora Calista Rivera, 18, is facing a charge of arson, a third-degree felony.

The probable cause statement said Rivera lives at an address in Salt Lake City with her father, grandparents and an aunt.

“On Wednesday around 5 a.m. shortly after an argument with her father, Rivera entered the home with the smell of gasoline on her person,” the probable cause statement said. “Rivera exited the home and immediately after flames were seen on the stairs leading to the basement of the home near the door Rivera exited.”

Witness saw Rivera running away from the home and leaving the scene in a vehicle.

“Rivera knew her father was in the basement of the home when the fire was started and the stairs were the only means of egress from the home,” the statement said.

The father was not injured as a result of the incident, officials said.

Rivera was transported to the Salt Lake County Jail with her bail set at $15,000.
