WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, July 14, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are looking for two males who were involved in two robberies and attempted a third Thursday night in West Valley City.
West Valley City Police Lt. Steve Burke said a call came in at 11:32 p.m. about a robbery at the Domino’s Pizza store at 3500 South and 6900 West.
Two Hispanic males wearing bandannas had entered the store, and one of them produced a handgun, Burke told Gephardt Daily. One was wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts, and the other was dressed all in black. They demanded cash and then left with an undisclosed amount, heading northwest on foot.
Burke said a police K-9 tracked the suspects, but the trail ended suddenly, and police believe the suspects got into a vehicle. An officer saw a red Camaro leaving the area at a high rate of speed.
Just a short time later, the manager of the Domino’s at 3500 South and 4800 West called police, saying someone had attempted to rob that business, but the store was closed and the suspects couldn’t gain entry.
A third call then came in of a confirmed robbery at the Maverik at 2675 S. 3200 West. Burke said the suspects took cigarettes and possibly an undetermined amount of cash from that store.
Police did pull over a red Camaro, in which they found a person of interest in a different case. They were also searching for a silver SUV that had been seen in the area.
Burke said police have a fairly good description of the suspects, and they are checking outside surveillance video as well. He said Unified Police Department was notified and officers will be keeping an eye on convenience stores and similar businesses throughout the area.
