Police search for suspects after attempted armed robbery of Maverik gas station

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 8, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in Salt Lake City are looking for two suspects who attempted to rob a Maverik gas station at gunpoint Thursday morning.

A news release from the Salt Lake City Police Department said the incident occurred at the Maverik at 1707 S. 300 West just before 2:30 a.m.

Police said two men entered the gas station, and one suspect went to the beer cooler while the second suspect approached the clerk behind the counter and pointed a handgun at him.

The victim managed to take the gun away from the suspect and grab the suspect’s shirt as he tried to leave. Both suspects fled the area empty handed. The suspects are described as Hispanic and in their 20s.
