MILLCREEK, Utah, Nov. 12, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a man they say tried to carjack several people on Saturday.

A call came in to Unified Police Department at about 2:30 p.m., reporting a man with a gun in the area of 3800 South and 700 East. The man reportedly said he had a gun and tried to steal a vehicle, but he didn’t show a weapon and did not succeed in stealing the car. He then fled the scene.

While police responded and tried to find the suspect, several more calls were received about attempted carjackings by a man who matched the description of the suspect in the first incident.

Unified police established a containment area and brought in K-9s, while 25 to 30 officers searched for the suspect. South Salt Lake police assisted in the search.

After more than an hour, the suspect had not been found, and police lifted the lockdown of the area.

The suspect is described as a white male with blond hair, in his mid-30s; 6-feet-2-inches tall, and thin. He was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans, but police say he may have stolen a white or tan and blue plaid shirt from a backyard.

Anyone who has any information about this incident is asked to call Unified police at 801-743-7000.
