SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – October 19, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Police are seeking a suspect who attempted to carjack three cars downtown over the weekend.

Salt Lake City police said in a press release that an unidentified male was in the area of 250 South State Street when he approached a vehicle with three occupants in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He displayed two knives, demanding money. The occupants ran from the car as the man tried to take the vehicle. The suspect was unable to operate the car and left with a purse that had been left behind.

The suspect then stopped another vehicle in the area of 300 South State Street. The driver of that vehicle sped off when the suspect confronted them. The suspect threatened a witness who followed him, and then entered a parking structure at 50 East Exchange Place at around 3:40 a.m. where he confronted another person. The suspect demanded money and keys to the car. A physical altercation took place and the victim suffered a cut to his hand.

The suspect ran from the area, and officers could not find him when they arrived in the area. He is described as a white male wearing a red hoodie, black shorts, a backward baseball cap and a scruffy beard.
