Police seek suspect in Salt Lake City taco stand robbery

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 10, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake police officials are seeking a suspect after a taco stand was robbed Friday night.

The incident occurred at the taco stand at 1174 W. 600 North, outside Smith’s, just after 11:30 p.m., according to a news release from the Salt Lake City Police Department.

“A man walked up to a taco stand and asked for a burrito,” the news release said. “The worker turned to put out the order and the suspect reached in and took the cash box which he dropped when confronted by an employee. The suspect then threatened the workers, scooped up some money and the cash box and started running.”

A worker chased the robber and scuffled briefly before the suspect got into a car and escaped.

The suspect fled the area in a gray newer model Nissan Sentra. He is described as Caucasian, in his 20s, 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a slender build, wearing a gray sweatshirt.
