Police Seek Suspect Who Shot West Valley City Man In The Back

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, March 6, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A man is in critical condition after he was shot in the back outside his West Valley City home Saturday night, police said.

Lt. Julie Jorgensen of the West Valley Police Department said the incident began at about 11:50 p.m. when a father who said he was looking for his daughter pounded on the door of a home at 3400 South 3450 West.

The 42-year-old homeowner answered the door to the father, who was a stranger to him, and said he did not know the man’s daughter.

Jorgensen said a verbal altercation began, and then the two got into a physical fight on the sidewalk outside the house.

The father reportedly pulled out his gun and fired several times at the homeowner’s back. The victim was taken by ambulance to the trauma center at Intermountain Medical Center.

Police describe the suspect as a tall, white male in his 30s, wearing a light-colored shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Valley City police at 801-840-4000.
