LITTLE DELL RESERVOIR, UTAH – August 27, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Unified Police have two suspects in custody and are looking for a third after they found them spray-painting a stolen car and stealing mail up Emigration Canyon.

UPD Lt. Manfred Lassig said police received a call from an employee who works for the water department who had observed at least three individuals spray painting a white Yukon black in a secluded area. Undercover officers responded and followed the suspects as they drove up the canyon, broke into mailboxes and stole mail.

Officers decided to set up spikes at the intersection of Pine Crest and Emigration Canyon and boxed the suspects in as they started to head down the canyon.

The suspects hit the spike stripes and continued at over 40 mph until the car lost all four tires and crashed into the creek embankment at 5730 E. Emigration Canyon. The two female occupants, identified as Anna C. Roberts, 29, and Emilee J. Evans (Leyba), 27, both fled on foot down into the creek but were quickly taken into custody.

The Yukon had been stolen the day before out of the Salt Lake City area.  Inside the vehicle officers and detectives found a duffel bag full of mail from at least 20 different people, stolen ID’s, passports, vehicle titles, and bank records.

The male suspect was able to get away by stealing a red Subaru Forrester then driving out of the canyon before the Tahoe had been observed leaving.

Please contact the Unified Police Department at 801-743-7000 if you’re a victim or witness, or have any information regarding the stolen red Subaru and the male suspect.
