SPANISH FORK, Utah, April 20, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The parents of a 14-year-old boy, as well as another man, were arrested Tuesday after Spanish Fork police said they found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and guns in a home.
Edwin Lee Steward and Valerie Steward, both 37, were each charged with third-degree felony child endangerment, and class B misdemeanor charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a news release from Utah County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Spencer Cannon.
Narcotics officers with Spanish Fork Police Department and the UCSO executed a search warrant at the home in Spanish Fork, according to the news release. The detectives had been investigating drug activity at this home for a couple of months, the news release added.
After entering the home, investigators discovered there was a 14-year-old boy there. They found, in several different areas, approximately two ounces of marijuana along with drug paraphernalia. Also found in the home were four different firearms that belonged to one of the adults.
The Stewards told investigators they regularly allowed their son to smoke marijuana. He also was regularly exposed to drugs and paraphernalia in the home.
The third adult in the home, Wesley Morse Vivian, 35, was the owner of the firearms that were found during the search. He was booked into jail on four third-degree felony charges of possession of a firearm by a category II restricted person and class B misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
