Police: Suspect threatens to shoot clerk who caught him stealing in Salt Lake 7-Eleven

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 25, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials are searching for a suspect who allegedly threatened to shoot a clerk who caught him stealing in a Salt Lake City 7-Eleven Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred at the convenience store at 111 W. 800 South just before 5:40 p.m.,  a news release from the Salt Lake City Police Department said.

“A 7-Eleven clerk observed a suspect committing a theft,” it said. “The clerk confronted the suspect and retrieved the merchandise from him. The suspect told the employee that he was going to come back and shoot him as he snatched other food items from the shelf while he was leaving.”

The suspect is described as a black male, wearing a green North Star cap, green boots and a black hoodie. The suspect was heavyset and drove a newer gold BMW 7 series.
