Police: Woman attacks man with ball bat, knife in fight over parking spot in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 2, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman is facing a felony charge of aggravated assault after she allegedly attacked a man with a baseball bat and a knife during an altercation over parking.

A news release from the Salt Lake City Police Department said Michelle Simms, 55, is facing one charge of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony.

The incident occurred Wednesday at approximately 1:30 p.m. in the area of 1500 S. State St., the news release said.

“The victim contacted the suspect to advise her she could not park on his property,” the news release said. “The suspect took exception to this and shoved him. The suspect then retrieved a baseball bat from her vehicle and swung it at the victim, striking him once in the arm.”

The victim was able to take the bat away, at which time the suspect retrieved a knife and swung it at the victim. The victim sustained a minor cut to his finger.

Simms was transported to Salt Lake County Jail with bail set at $20,000.
