OGDEN, Utah, Oct. 10, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Ogden police are investigating a reported drive-by shooting Wednesday afternoon near the downtown area.

The victim is a man in his early 20s. He was transported from the site — at 28th Street and Lincoln Avenue — to a local hospital, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, a statement from the Ogden Police Department says.

Police asked in the statement, posted at 4:37 p.m., for people to avoid the area while the investigation continues.

After police had cleared the scene, a few people milled about on the sidewalk outside of the Marshall White Center, which is on the northeast corner of 28th and Lincoln.

A resident of the neighborhood told Gephardt Daily he had heard shots — “Pow, pow, pow” — and saw a car speed away heading north on Lincoln. He wasn’t entirely sure if the vehicle was related to the shooting.

When asked if it appeared that the shooter had been aiming toward the Marshall White Center, he said the shooter was likely aiming at someone near the street, and not near the building.

The on-duty lieutenant at OPD could not confirm any information other than what had been tweeted earlier, saying the incident is still under investigation and he had not received any further details.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this incident as information is released.
