SPRINGVILLE, Utah, May 18, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A pregnant Springville woman is recovering after being injured in a hit-and-run with a suspected impaired driver Monday afternoon.

Springville Police Department Lt. Dave Caron said the accident happened just before 3 p.m. at 1730 W. 400 South.

The woman, who is three months pregnant, said she was on her way to a prenatal appointment and was sitting in her vehicle at a red light when she was hit from behind. Witnesses estimated the man was traveling at nearly 40 mph at the time of the impact.

Workers from the Jiffy Lube ran across the street to help the woman and to attempt to stop the driver but he was able to drive away.
Caron said a witness followed the man while on the phone with dispatchers until officers were able to catch up with him and pull him over.

The injured woman was rushed to the hospital with injuries to her neck, back and arm, as well as clavicle injuries from the seat belt. The victim told Gephardt Daily she and her baby are both expected to be OK but some tests showed the baby’s blood had mixed with hers so she will need to continue to be checked for further complications.

Crispin Delgado, 44, of American Fork, was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail for failure to yield at the scene of an injury accident and driving under the influence.
