PROVO, Utah, Sept. 27, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have identified an 82-year-old man who died after an auto-pedestrian accident Wednesday afternoon in Provo.

The deceased is Rodolfo Blanco, from Orem, the Provo Police Department said in a tweet Thursday.

Lt. Brian Taylor told Gephardt Daily that a call regarding the accident came to dispatch at 12:51 p.m. A car was northbound at the intersection of Riverside Avenue and north State Street when it struck a pedestrian, later identified as Blanco.

Blanco was crossing north State Street in the crosswalk, Thursday’s tweet said.

The victim died at the scene.

Taylor said the car driver, who was cooperative and remained on the scene, was a young woman in her early 20s who attends a local university. There was no initial evidence that she was intoxicated or impaired, Taylor said.

“We extend our sincere condolences to Mr. Blanco’s family,” the Provo Police Department tweet said. “While the circumstances of this incident remain under investigation, we remind drivers to slow down, be alert, and focus on the road.”
