PROVO, Utah, July 5, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — A Provo family found a stranger in their bathroom Saturday, “red in the face and sweating profusely.”
A probable cause statement from Utah County said Joshua Ryan Wilkinson, 41, from south Provo, is facing a charge of criminal trespass within a dwelling, a class A misdemeanor.
The arresting officer wrote in the statement he was dispatched to a home in the area of 220 S. 1050 West on a report of a person inside the bathroom. The reporting party advised she did not know the person.
On arrival, the officer knocked on the bathroom door and announced he was with the police department.
“I heard a male, later identified as Joshua Wilkinson, clarify if I was the police,” the statement said. “Josh was ordered out of the bathroom and he complied. Josh appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance. He was red in the face and sweating profusely. I observed the temperature inside the residence was reasonable and comfortable.”
Wilkinson was placed in handcuffs and escorted out of the residence. The homeowner again confirmed she did not know the suspect.
“She said she had been home with her family for most of the evening and did not hear anyone enter the residence,” the statement said.
Due to Wilkinson’s condition, he was transported to the hospital for a medical clearance, then taken to the Utah County Jail with his bail set at $1,960.
