SPANISH FORK, Utah, April 24, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A 20-year-old Provo man was found drowned Sunday morning in the Spanish Oaks Reservoir.

Jose Eduardo Castellanos had gone fishing at the reservoir on Saturday morning, and was reported as overdue by concerned family members. They had found Castellanos’ car in the parking lot that evening, but could not find him.

The Spanish Fork Police Department was called in at 10:26 p.m. Saturday. Castellanos’ hat and vest were found on the southeastern bank of the reservoir.

A large-scale search was begun at 7 a.m. Sunday, and more than a dozen feet of water was drained from the reservoir to help in the search.

Castellanos’ body was found at 10:30 a.m. in five feet of water at the northeast end of the reservoir.
