PROVO, Utah, Feb. 12, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Provo man was arrested Monday after police say they found multiple illegal images on his cellphone.

A probable cause statement from Utah County said Eric John Washburn, 30, is facing 10 counts of second-degree felony sexual exploitation of a minor. Washburn was arrested Monday afternoon and transported to Utah County Jail, where his bail has been set at $50,000.

An investigator with the Utah Attorney General’s office received a peer-to-peer download of a video portraying an infant female being sexually molested, the probable cause statement said.

A judicial order was obtained to identify the subscriber of the IP address used for the peer-to-peer download. The internet provider provided information for the IP subscriber and IP location, which showed Washburn located at an address in Provo.

A search warrant was obtained for Washburn’s home; the search warrant was executed Monday by Provo Special Victims Unit detectives and others with the Internet Crimes Against Children task force.

Washburn was taken into custody at his place of employment, the statement said. After being read his Miranda rights, Washburn admitted to possessing child pornography and also sharing child pornography. Washburn admitted to downloading from and sharing with at least two other individuals on multiple occasions. He said that he shares and views child pornography through his cellphone and a computer.

Washburn’s cellphone was forensically examined on scene. There were at least nine images of prepubescent children who were naked, engaged in sex acts and one image that showed an adult female performing a sex act on a prepubescent male child.

Other electronic storage devices were collected on scene and will be forensically examined at a later date.
