WALLSBURG, UTAH – November 4, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A Provo man has died after a collision in Wasatch County Tuesday evening that closed SR-189 for several hours.

According to Utah Highway Patrol, 23-year-old Jordan Speirs of Provo was traveling south on SR-189 near the city of Wallsburg around 6 p.m. when he drifted off the roadway.

Trooper say as Speirs over-corrected, he entered the northbound lanes directly in the path of an oncoming truck. Troopers said the front end of the truck impacted the passenger side of Speirs’ Mazda 6 in a near head-on collision.

Speirs died at Heber Valley Medical Center while they were preparing to transport him by medical helicopter to a trauma center.

Troopers have not said what factors may have contributed to the accident.
