PROVO, Utah, Aug. 13, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — After arresting an alleged suspect on numerous incidents of lewdness in Provo, police say neighboring cities have also been victimized by the man.
“Provo Police Department is pleased to announce the successful resolution in regard to a series of lewdness cases that have been under investigation since May,” the department said Tuesday afternoon.
Edward Bunnell, 69, a registered sex offender, was arrested last week in Provo and booked into jail on suspicion of five incidents in the city, according to the department’s press release. “Detectives believe he intended to commit additional acts of lewdness.”
The suspect would approach young women in his vehicle and expose himself while engaging in lewd acts, police said. “In each incident Bunnell was driving a white Toyota Tacoma.”
The truck had license plates removed, police said, and in some of the incidents the truck had a chrome diamond plate toolbox attached to the truck bed, while in others it had been removed.
“Similar incidents have been reported to neighboring police agencies.” The department urged anyone who may have been similarly victimized to make a report to the police department in the city of occurrence.
