PROVO, Utah, Oct. 27, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The Provo Police Department wants the public to be aware — and safe — as the weather turns wintry.

A tweet Sunday night from Provo PD is reminding everyone to watch for the Traffic Enforcement Team along 500 West, University Avenue and Cougar Boulevard.

“The top violations last week were improper lookout and following too closely so STOP driving DISTRACTED! Put your phones DOWN and wear your seatbelt,” the tweet cautions.

Provo Police also listed these “8 common reasons accidents happen in the snow”:

  • Driving too fast for the conditions
  • Failing to clear all of your windows
  • Failure to allow more time
  • Following too closely
  • Stopping in a lane of travel
  • Unnecessary travel
  • Poor braking
  • Over acceleration

Allow extra time to get where you’re going, and have a safe week, the tweet said.
