Provo woman killed in early morning fire

PROVO, Utah, June 1, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — An early morning fire has claimed the life of a Provo woman.

The blaze was first reported about 4:43 a.m. after neighbors reported smoke and flames pouring from a building at 1409 S. State St.

Firefighters confirmed one man was slightly injured after suffering smoke inhalation.

The woman who died in the fire is believed to have been in her 40s, and reportedly suffered from medical issues that may have prevented her escape.

The structure that burned previously housed a video rental service.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
