MINERSVILLE, Utah, March 27, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A pursuit of a stolen vehicle on I-15 Friday ended after the driver of the car missed a curve and rolled the vehicle outside Minersville.
A spokesperson for the Utah Highway Patrol said the incident began just before 11 a.m. when a trooper stopped a gold Toyota Corolla for speeding on southbound I-15.
The trooper said that during the traffic stop he smelled marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. When he asked the driver to get out of the car, the man suddenly sped off.
The trooper and other UHP officers were in hot pursuit when the suspect vehicle missed a curve and rolled while trying to turn onto SR 130.
The UHP said the driver, 19-year-old Montana Guidry, and his passenger, Strodey Richard, 18, were treated by medical personnel at the hospital before being booked into the Iron County Jail.
Investigators say Guidry admitted the car had been stolen out of Twin Falls, Idaho.
Troopers say they found both drugs and alcohol in the vehicle.
