BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 13, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A body found Sunday by rabbit hunters near the Hansel Valley exit of Interstate 84 has been identified, according to a statement by the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office.

The deceased is believed to be Jerry Wetherholt, of Oregon, who was reportedly traveling to Neola, a 240-mile drive away, in Duchesne County.

Wetherholt was last heard from when he texted a friend on Sept. 4. Wetherholt had been traveling by walking, hitchhiking and catching freight trains, according as the BECS statement.

There was no obvious trauma to the body. The cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Wetherholt had not been carrying identification, according to the sheriff’s office, and when his body was found, it was described as “… obviously deceased for some time.”
