TAYLORSVILLE, Utah, March 17, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Two drivers involved in a crash at 4700 South and Redwood Road remain in critical condition after a crash Thursday morning, according to police.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, said Unified Police Department spokesman Lt. Brian Lohrke.

Police asked drivers to avoid the northwest intersection of Redwood Road at 4700 South in Taylorsville after the crash, which happened at approximately 11:20 a.m.

The identities of the woman, who is approximately 30, and the man, who is approximately 70, have not yet been released, Lohrke said.

Police said the northwest part of the intersection was closed while investigators worked to determine the cause of the crash, which involved a blue SUV driven by the man and a white passenger car driven by the woman.

There were no passengers in either of the vehicles.

Power company crews also worked to stabilize a power pole that was damaged, and the road road reopened fully at approximately 3 p.m.

Traffic is flowing normally in that area Friday morning.

Gephardt Daily will update this developing story as information becomes available.
