WASHINGTON, D.C., May 16, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah Representative Jason Chaffetz on Tuesday night tweeted that if a certain reported memo exists, he has his “subpoena pen ready.”

The alleged memo, by former FBI Director James Comey, is said to document the fact that President Donald Trump asked Comey to end the probe into Michael Flynn, former national national security adviser.

Chaffetz tweeted that his panel “is going to get the Comey memo, if it exists,” adding that he has his “subpoena pen ready.”

As of 6 p.m. Mountain Time on Tuesday, the tweet — then two hours old — had more than 5,000 likes and more than 3,000 retweets.

Trump fired Comey last week. The firing came as the FBI continued to investigate Russian involvement in the 2016 election, and ties between Trump’s close associates and Russia were making headlines.

The timing of Comey’s firing raised questions about whether Trump might be trying to impede the probe.
