SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 12, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Rep. Mia Love filed for re-election Monday to stay in Utah’s 4th district congressional seat.
Love (R-UT) made the announcement on her Facebook page Monday afternoon. Nearly 1,000 people reacted to Love’s post in the first hour. She will be campaigning against Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams, a Democrat, who filed candidacy papers Friday.
Love’s post reads: I’m excited to have filed for re-election. I’ve been laser-focused on listening to and representing the needs of the 4th District. We’ve tackled tax reform, passed legislation to help rural economies and every step of the way fought for the sanctity of life.
I am passionate about running because I’m proud of the work we’ve done but know there is much still left to be accomplished.
Our most crucial legislation often comes down to just a few votes. Every success we’ve had (and could have in the future) can be thrown into reverse by a Nancy Pelosi controlled House of Representatives as she will keep Ben McAdams square in line behind her. I’m committed to fighting for less government control, lower taxes and protecting the unborn.
Because McAdams isn’t up for re-election until 2020, he will still remain as county mayor if he doesn’t win the congressional race.
