LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON, Utah, June 4, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A man had to be rescued after receiving injures during a fall in Bells Canyon Saturday afternoon.
Unified Police Lt. Lex Bell said the incident happened at 3 p.m. when a 26-year-old man was hiking in Bells Canyon and was trying to climb the falls when he slipped.
“He fell 12-20 feet into the water below,” Bell said. “At first he said he could not move his legs but once search and rescue arrived, he was more concerned about a possible head injury.”
Bell said the man was lifted out of the immediate area by Life Flight and then taken by ambulance to an area hospital in fair condition.
Bell said it is common for hikers to go off the trail and attempt to climb the falls, but it is not safe and can lead to injury.
