Police search for suspects after 2 similar armed robberies in SLC

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 30, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are looking for a pair of suspects in two separate robberies in which the circumstances and the description of the men is remarkably similar.

According to a news release from the Salt Lake City Police Department, two men entered the All Chay Vietnamese restaurant at 1264 W. 500 North just after 8:10 p.m. Thursday wearing all black with gray scarves over their faces.

The suspects displayed a weapon and demanded money. Both suspects left on foot in an unknown direction.

The first suspect was described as black, 25 to 30 years old, 6 feet 2 inches tall and skinny. The second as a heavy set Hispanic.

The second robbery took place at Smokin’ Joe’s smoke shop at 916 N. 900 West, a half hour later.

As in the first robbery, two men entered the shop and produced a weapon, demanding money, then received the money and left in an unknown direction.

The first suspect is described as black, skinny, and medium height wearing blue jeans, tennis shoes with white bottoms and a black puffy coat. The second suspect is described as black or Hispanic, was heavy set, and medium height. Both men spoke with accents.
