RICHFIELD, Utah, Dec. 17, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are looking for two suspects in the theft of more than $23,000 worth of generators from Jorgensen’s Honda on Saturday.
A news release from Richfield City Police Department said the “smash and grab” incident happened at 12:26 a.m., when at least four suspects broke into the business and stole 18 generators in less than three minutes.
The suspects were in two vehicles, and an attempt to locate was broadcast to surrounding areas, the news release says.
A clerk at a Chevron station in Beaver heard the broadcast on a scanner and noticed some people who seemed suspicious and appeared to match the description of the suspects.
The clerk notified the Beaver County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded and were able to make a traffic stop on one of the vehicles.
Two suspects were taken into custody, the news release says, and all 18 generators were in the vehicle and were recovered.
In custody are Carlos Fuentes, 26, from Los Angeles, California, and a 16-year-old juvenile from Hawthorne,
California.
Two other suspects who were in a different vehicle are still on the loose, and police believe that they have been involved in at least four other burglaries of this type in Utah.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
