Riverton man allegedly stabs victim with scissors

RIVERTON, Utah, Sept. 29, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Riverton man is facing a charge of aggravated assault after he allegedly stabbed a victim with a pair of scissors.

A probable cause statement from the 3rd District Court of Salt Lake County said Lawrence Grockett, 50, is facing the charge, which is a third-degree felony. He was transported to the Salt Lake County Jail with his bail set at $5,000.

“The arrested party was involved in a physical altercation with the victim,” the statement said. “The arrested party was determined to be the prominent aggressor. During the altercation the arrested party assaulted the victim with a closed fist.”

The victim obtained a pair of scissors to defend himself, the statement said.

“The arrested party took the scissors from the victim and stabbed him in the leg,” the statement said. “The result was bodily injury with a dangerous weapon. The victim had profuse bleeding and was transported to the hospital for evaluation.”
