Update: SWAT takes barricaded man into custody in Riverton

RIVERTON, Utah, Nov. 6, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A SWAT team safely took a suspect into custody Monday afternoon, after the 32-year-old man was reported to have threatened a ShopKo employee with a knife Monday morning.

The Unified Police Department said in a series of tweets that Christopher Robert Ainslie had barricaded himself inside his parents’ home in the area of 1300 W. Cancun Way in Riverton. Ainslie is also on felony probation, Unified police added.

“The suspect was armed with a knife when he threatened a ShopKo employee this morning in Taylorsville,” one of the tweets said. The first tweet was published before noon.

Officials closed 1300 West between 12800 South and 13000 South while the police worked to take the man into custody.

No one was injured in this incident.
