RIVERTON, Utah, April 13, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A 13-month-old boy is in critical condition after he fell into a cooler of water Wednesday morning.

Jordan Fowlks, a paramedic with the Unified Fire Authority, was one of those called at 11:38 a.m. to the scene, near 13600 South and 2200 West.

“We responded to a small child, a 1-year-old, who fell into a cooler and drowned,” Fowlks said. The family had just returned from a vacation, he said.

“They were just cleaning up when they got home,” Fowlks said. “He didn’t know there was water in the cooler, and he ended up getting in there.”

Crews were able to resuscitate the child, who was flown by medical helicopter with a pulse and a good blood pressure, but in critical condition, Fowlks said. The toddler will be treated at Primary Children’s Hospital.
