RIVERTON, Utah, March 16, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman is in custody and a man is hospitalized in serious condition after police say an argument led to a shooting in Riverton.

The Unified Police Department was called in at about 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, said UPD Dec. Ken Hansen.

“A man and a woman who apparently live at this location (12974 S. 1978 West) must have got in an argument,” Hansen said. “She somehow obtained a firearm, and shot the male.

“After being shot, he called 911. Medical and UPD showed up, and took the female into custody and the male to a local hospital.”

Hansen said the victim is in serious condition, but was still being assessed Wednesday night.

“We don’t know yet what was in her mind or his mind that caused such a drastic reaction with such a serious consequence,” Hansen said.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information becomes available.
