WEST JORDAN, UTAH – September 26, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – An adult and a juvenile are in custody after a reckless driving incident led another driver to attempt a pit maneuver in West Jordan.

West Jordan Police Department spokesman Nelson Vargas initially said a road rage incident ended at 8973 South Galilee Way (1210 West) at around 2:30 p.m. Vargas said two vehicles crashed into each other and came to rest in a yard in front of the home. Nobody was in the house at the time.

Later, the juvenile driver of the GMC, who had one adult passenger in the car, admitted to driving recklessly on 9000 South. He made a right turn onto Galilee Way and lost control of the vehicle. A man driving a Jeep who lives in the neighborhood, then executed a pit maneuver to try and stop him.

The two in the GMC took off running and were apprehended by neighbors. The adult passenger was booked on charges not relating to this incident, and the driver was taken to a juvenile detention center. The driver of the Jeep was not injured.

Police are still determining if other charges should be filed. Vargas said police want to remind the public not to take matters into their own hands in situations such as this, as it can be dangerous.

A witness, who identified herself as George, said: “I kept hearing a crashing like a demolition derby out in the road, and I was standing in the driveway. Both cars were hitting each other. They were coming right at me and then they passed me by about 12 feet, and crashed in the neighbors’ yard. They were going fast.”

We will have more information about this developing story as it becomes available.
