UHP Arrests Man After Road Rage Incident In Magna

MAGNA, Utah, July 2, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A road rage incident in Magna Friday afternoon has Utah Highway Patrol reminding motorists to not engage with aggressive drivers.

UHP said the incident started just before 1 p.m on westbound SR-201 near 7200 West when the driver of a white Dodge cut off a gold Lexus. The driver of the Dodge, James Hilton, 23, of Salt Lake City, then pulled up next to the Lexus and pointed what appeared to be a black handgun at the car’s occupants.

The driver of the Lexus followed the Dodge from a distance and called 911.

Officers with Unified Police Department located the vehicle near 8400 West and 3100 South and initiated the stop. Hilton was taken into custody without incident and booked into Salt Lake County Jail on felony charges of aggravated assault and misdemeanor reckless driving.

Troopers said pointing a weapon, even if a replica weapon, can result in an felony aggravated assault charge.

UHP reminds motorist to call 911 if they see a reckless driver who is a danger to the public.
