MILLCREEK, Utah, Sept. 20, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Two Rocky Mountain Power employees were first on the scene of a fire at a Millcreek home Wednesday morning and carried the unconscious elderly resident to safety.

Unified Fire Authority firefighter and paramedic Taylor Sandstrom told Gephardt Daily the fire broke out at the home in Olympus Cove at approximately 10 a.m.

The two power company employees happened to be in the area and ran into the home and carried the unconscious resident outside.

Sandstrom said that once outside the home, the employees saw the resident was not breathing normally and began CPR on him.

Unified Fire Authority crews arrived on the scene and took over CPR. The elderly gentleman was then transported to an area hospital by ground ambulance. Sandstrom said the man’s condition is not known.

He added the fire was a one-alarm incident, though additional units were called out because of the injured resident.

Sandstrom added that there was damage to the home itself and its contents, but an estimated dollar amount is not yet known.

The cause of the fire is also still unknown.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information becomes available.
