TOOELE COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 30, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A young woman is dead and four other juveniles or young adults were injured after a crash on westbound Interstate 80 in Tooele County early Sunday morning.
A news release from the Utah Highway Patrol said a 2006 Lexus with five occupants was westbound on I-80 at milepost 85 at a high rate of speed at approximately 5:30 a.m.
“For an unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway and traveled into the center median,” the news release said. “The vehicle rolled multiple times and sustained severe damage. It is believed that three of the occupants were ejected during the crash.”
One young woman that was ejected died at the scene. All other occupants, thought to be juveniles or young adults, were transported to various hospitals.
Alcohol is being suspected as a contributing factor in the crash, officials said.
The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the investigation into the incident.
The deceased young woman has not been identified.
