SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 3, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Mitt Romney, former Massachusetts governor and Republican party presidential candidate, has released excerpts of the speech he will give Thursday morning at the University of Utah.

The speech, to be delivered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, at the U’s Hinckley Institute for Politics, targets current Republican presidential Donald Trump.

“Here’s what I know. Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud,” Romney said, in prereleased excerpts from his talk.

“His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University. He’s playing the American public for suckers: He gets a free ride to the White House and all we get is a lousy hat.”

Romney plans to talk about the destablizing affect he believes Trump would have.

“His domestic policies would lead to recession. His foreign policies would make America and the world less safe. He has neither the temperament nor the judgement to be president. And his personal qualities would mean that America would cease to be a shining city on a hill,” said Romney’s script, with a references to Pres. Ronald Reagan’s famous depiction of the United States.

Trump Tweeted an anti-Romney message Wednesday night:

“Failed Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney is having a news conference tomorrow to criticize me. Just another desperate move by the man who should have easily beaten Barrack Obama,” Trump said, misspelling Obama’s first name.

“I have brought millions of people into the Republican Party, while the Dems are going down,” Trump also said, on Twitter. “Establishment wants to kill this movement!”

Romney’s speech will also take a shot at Democratic frontrunner candidate Hillary Clinton.

“A person so untrustworthy and dishonest as Hillary Clinton must not become president. But a Trump nomination enables her victory.”
