Roy teen charged with exploiting 11 boys

ROY, Utah, Sept. 19, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A Weber County teen has been booked into jail after investigators say he obtained naked photos from 11 boys through Facebook Messenger while pretending to be a female with romantic interest in his victims.

According to court documents, James Robert Louis Wood, 18, used the fake name “Jessica Ford” to befriend male classmates online.

After several exchanges with the boys as “Jessica,” Wood would send nude photos of breasts, buttocks and a vagina, and would instruct victims to provide nude photos of themselves in return.

Wood later showed nude photos he had obtained from the boys to classmates, and in at least once case, mailed a photo to the younger sibling of a victim.

Wood is or was a student at Roy High School. He how faces charges of:

  • 12 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, each a second degree felony
  • 10 counts of dealing in harmful materials to a minor by an adult, a third degree felony

The probable cause statement said the crimes occurred between Dec. 1, 2016 and Feb. 28, 2017. Bail is set at $222,500.
